Decorative Thermal/Sound Insulation for Walls and Ceilings
GENERAL
SEMPATAP TEXTURE is patterned thermal/acoustic insulation on a roll that is as easy as wallpaper to apply.
SEMPATAP TEXTURE is a range of SEMPATAP available in three attractive, hard wearing textured decorative finishes - Finetex, Weavetex and Herringbone. It is ideal for use on either walls or ceilings and can be easily decorated to the desired colour with two coats of emulsion.
It is simple and quick to install, with virtually no mess since, at only 5mm thickness, it does not necessitate the removal of skirtings, plugs, switches, radiators, etc. |

 |
SEMPATAP TEXTURE is an extremely versatile wall covering, providing the dual benefits of thermal and acoustic insulation and a highly attractive finish. The material has a wide variety of applications, it is ideal for use in flats and houses - hotels, hospitals, schools, offices, factories, universities, Army / Navy camps.
CONDENSATION
Solid walls, poorly insulated surfaces, cold bridging, lack of heating, insufficient ventilation in combination with other factors lead to the major maintenance problem of condensation. Black mould will then contaminate walls and ceilings, resulting in a potentially serious health risk to the occupants. SEMPATAP TEXTURE applied to these surfaces will raise the temperature by approximately 3° - 4°C which substantially reduces the incidence of condensation resulting in a
warmer more comfortable, healthier living environment for tenants. |
THERMAL PROPERTIES/ENERGY SAVING
The use of SEMPATAP TEXTURE on the inside of external walls and top floor ceilings dramatically reduces heat loss through these surfaces. SEMPATAP TEXTURE lowers the 'µ' value of walls and ceilings by a minimum of 23% and is, therefore, excellent for energy conservation and reduction of CO2 emissions. By reducing heat loss SEMPATAP TEXTURE can help to lower the cost of heating bills for tenants.
ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES
SEMPATAP TEXTURE has excellent sound absorption properties and is particularly effective in the range of unpleasant high frequencies where insulation is most important. It is excellent for use in situations where flats butt up against communal staircases, are close to lift housing or suffer from echoing floor/ceilings and reverberating walls.

Application Instructions
1. Mould growth on walls and
ceilings must be treated first in accordance with MGC Specification.
2. Surface
preparation – existing wallpaper must be removed, artex ceilings should be
sanded to remove all high peaks. Fill
all large cracks and holes with proprietary filler. Remove all flaking paint, gloss painted walls to be lightly
abraded and washed with sugar soap then rinsed clean. All highly porous surfaces, chalking substrates and artex
ceilings to be primed with one coat of SEMPATAP ‘A’ PRIMER and allowed to dry.
3. Cut
SEMPATAP TEXTURE to length allowing 25mm overlap at each end or sufficient for
pattern matching.
4. Roll up
cut length of SEMPATAP TEXTURE with foam
facing out.
5. Apply
SEMPATAP ADHESIVE with serrated SEMPATAP ADHESIVE SPREADER, or suitable notched
trowel to wall/ceiling surface. Only
apply adhesive to one drop length area at a time.
6. Hold the
rolled-up piece of SEMPATAP TEXTURE in one hand and unroll the first half
metre, (keep remainder rolled-up), and apply foam side to the wet adhesive. Keep the roll on the
wet adhesive. Unroll another half metre. Using light hand pressure, smooth out the unrolled piece that is
in contact with the adhesive. If light
pressure is used, SEMPATAP TEXTURE can at this point be repositioned by sliding
into place.
7. When
SEMPATAP TEXTURE is in the required position, apply firm hand pressure, or use
a rubber roller, the handle of a paper hanging brush or the blade of SEMPATAP
SPATULA over the first metre. The
remainder can then be unrolled down the wet adhesive and smoothed out. Once applied, ‘firm-up’ with the same tool.
8. WALL JUNCTIONS, CEILING LINE, SKIRTINGS
- push SEMPATAP TEXTURE into angles using SEMPATAP SPATULA and trim using a
sharp bladed knife.
9. Complete
the application of SEMPATAP TEXTURE by applying subsequent pieces as above but leave a narrow gap between
each piece. The gap should be
approximately 1-2mm.
10. All open
joints and seams are to be filled with SEMPATAP SEALANT. When the seam has been filled, wipe off any
excess sealant using a damp, clean cloth.
Fill any sealant shrinkage with proprietary fine surface filler using a
plastic spatula. Wipe any excess from
the wall covering using a damp, clean cloth.
11. EXTERNAL ANGLES, WINDOW REVEALS, SOFFITS
ETC: Apply drop above soffit
first, cut to allow sufficient overhang to cover soffit. Fold SEMPATAP TEXTURE on to adhesive coated
soffit, smooth out and trim off any excess.
Then apply drops to left and right of window, repeat process for
reveals, folding SEMPATAP TEXTURE into reveals for a neat finish.
12. DECORATIVE FINISH: Apply two coats of
BIOCHECK Matt or Silk Emulsion by brush or roller at a coverage of
approximately 12 square metres per litre per coat.
